7th grade girls’ volleyball traveled to Wredling yesterday and played 3 great matches before losing to the Red Hawks. Sophie Curshellas dominated on defense, making numerous saves, and protecting the net. Lauren Stachowitz made a jaw dropping one handed save that wowed the crowd while Sadie Ludwig jumped to new heights as she spiked the ball in the front row. The B team dominated on the court and won in two matches. In the first game while the Vikings were down 13-21, Emery Larsen had a 7-point serving streak to bring us back in the game! Kaily Martin is a leader on the court every game but yesterday she kept her teammates positive while having countless saves and spot on serves! Adrianna Carroll played an amazing game with a combined total of 7 points from her spectacular serves!! Great games ladies!! Be sure to come cheer on the 7th grade team Tuesday and Thursday next week in the contest gym!
Last night, the Geneva Middle School Viking varsity football team traveled to Jewell Middle School to take on the Jaguars. Quarterback Ben Peterson capped an 8-minute opening drive with a pass to Josh Frieders to put the Vikings on top early. Running back Harrison Tincher would later add a score on the ground, but the Jaguars hung close and drove for a touchdown in the closing seconds of the game, winning by a score of 14-12.
It was a sea of Blue last night as the boys’ cross-country team mastered the art of pack running with a clean 1-5 sweep of Thompson. In just his second race Parsa Manafi was unbelievable and won the boys race with Brady Jordan a second behind him bringing home second with a terrific race of his own. Ben Barton, Jackson Fuhrman, and Hunter Clemons all ran stellar races. The girls battled and showcased some impressive performances of their own. Elaina Mamminga, Gretchen Drexler, Juliet Whiston, and Lucina Lechtenberg resembled what looked like a Flying V as the girls packed together, and all finished right next to each other in the top ten. Madison Stinger, one of the 8th grade leaders, put up a gutsy performance as well. The team will hit the chill pool this weekend and pop in some Mighty Ducks to mentally prepare for the conference championship next week.
