5th-Graders Organize 23rd Western Walks
June 1, 2021

Fifth-graders at Western Avenue School set an example for younger students at the 23rd annual Western Walks event today. In the spirit of community service and developing self-directed learners, the event was organized by the school’s fifth grade and supported by PTO and staff. Activities included a 1-mile walk around the school in which 5th-graders hosted several “cheer stations” along the route for K-4 grades to enjoy. Student-led stops included bubble stations, several dance and movement stations, and a water station along the way. A fundraiser is also part of this project, and this year’s beneficiary was H.E.L.P. (Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets). Thank you for making today a memorable one for our younger students, fifth-graders!
