Important Information for Seniors and Parents of Seniors

Dear GHS Senior and Parent/Guardians,
 
For the next several days we will celebrate the GHS Class of 2021 with a variety of exciting activities, culminating with the Commencement Ceremony on Monday night. Please see the information below for all the details pertaining to each activity. Also, please watch the video included in this message that highlights the key points included below.
 
The following information is provided in chronological order:
 
Graduation Packets

  • Seniors received their tickets, along with other things needed for graduation, in a packet on Thursday, June 3rd. If you have not picked up your packet you may do so in the GHS Main Office on Friday, June 4th, from 7:30 until 2:00 p.m. or on Monday, June 7th, from 8:00 until 4:00. Please click HERE for a list of the descriptions of the tassels/ropes included in the envelope.

Baccalaureate Ceremony – Friday, June 4th, 6:30 pm 

  • Chapelstreet Church has graciously offered to host an outdoor Baccalaureate Ceremony.  This ceremony is a non-denominational, voluntary religious service for graduating seniors and their families. 
  • Baccalaureate will be held outdoors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4th, at the Mill Creek Campus of Chapelstreet Church, 1S455 S. Mill Creek Drive in Geneva. Please note: this is not the church located on the corner of Peck and Keslinger that we have used in the past.
  • All graduates and guests must bring their own lawn chair. Tickets are not required for this event.
  • Graduates participating in the Baccalaureate Ceremony are required to wear their caps, gowns, and medallions and are asked to report to the church by 6:00 p.m. 
  • Overflow parking is available at the Marklund Center across the street from the church.

Prom on 3rd – Sunday, June 6th, 3:30 – 6:30 pm  

  • 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm – Registration/Check-in at Geneva Lutheran Church (Across from Graham’s) – 301 S. Third St. – A mask must be worn when you check-in and you must keep a mask with you throughout the day to be worn when circumstances require one.
  • 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm – Sweeteasy Treasure Hunt – Scan QR Code to find all the hidden treasures on 3rd St. and a Grand Prize!
  • 4:45 pm – 6:15 pm – Prizes, Prizes, and More Prizes – Join Remind.com (TEXT @ag4gb2 to 81010) to receive updates and prize-winner information.
  • Parking is available behind the courthouse and by the train station. Please try to avoid parking on Third street.  

Graduate Walk – Monday, June 7th, 9:00 am – 6:30 pm  

  • GHS Seniors, family members, friends, and the community are invited to visit the Graduate Walk along Third Street in downtown Geneva.
  • The 2021 GHS graduates will be featured on beautiful keepsake signs lining both sides of the street. GHS Seniors are encouraged to wear their caps and gowns, connect with fellow graduates, enjoy this wonderful photo opportunity, and prepare to be celebrated by our community.
  • Parking is available behind the courthouse and by the train station. Please try to avoid parking on Third street so the signs will be more visible for cars driving by. 
  • Graduate Walk Signs will be available for pick up at the Cougars Stadium after the Graduation Ceremony. 

Graduation – Monday evening, June 7th, 7:30 pm  

  • Gate #1 will open at 6:30 p.m. for graduates only. Please arrive prior to 6:30 ready to take your seat when the gate opens. Because we cannot have a graduation rehearsal, we will provide instructions from 6:30 to 7:00 pm.
  • Graduates MUST be wearing a mask in order to enter the stadium.  You may remove your mask when you enter the field to walk across the stage.
  • Bring the white envelope that contains your individual ticket, and your name card, with you – without the name card we have no way to read your name when you cross the stage.
  • Please do not decorate your cap. Decorated caps may not be worn during the ceremony.
  • Proper attire is required under your gown. Please see the email you received on May 7th, for more details.
  • Gate #3 will open at 7:00 for parents and guests of the graduates. There will be ushers available to help family members find their seats. Family members and guests are asked to please wear a mask.
  • If there is a question about weather conditions, please check the Geneva High School website after 3:00 pm.
  • In the event of rain on Monday, June 7th, the Commencement Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 10th. All the times, procedures, etc. will remain the same if the ceremony is moved to the 10th

Diploma Distribution – Tuesday, June 8th – Thursday, June 10th – 8:00 am – 3:00 pm  

  • Diplomas will be distributed in the GHS Main Office.
  • Graduates will receive their diploma during that time if all obligations have been cleared.
We are looking forward to a great celebration of the Class of 2021.
