Food Service Update for 2021-22
Food Service Update Image
July 30, 2021

Geneva 304 has been participating in the Federal Summer Food Service Program, which was designed to support families during the ongoing pandemic. Per federal direction, this program must end when the new school year starts and transition to the new federally funded program, the Seamless Summer Option. Under the new Seamless Summer Option program beginning Wednesday, Aug. 18, all K-12 students will still be eligible to receive free meals (a meal consists of food and drink) for active school days during the 2021-22 school year. Weekends and holidays are not included in this program.

Here are some important details about Geneva 304's transition between the two programs:
  • Last Curbside Meal Service: The final date to pick up meals through the Summer Food Program is 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.10, at Geneva High School. At that pick-up time, families will be provided 9 breakfasts and 9 lunches to cover the gap between then and the start of school on Wednesday, Aug.18.
  • Start of School Year: Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 18, the Seamless Summer Option will provide free daily breakfasts and lunches to students during the school day. In order for the meal to qualify, a meal must consist of both food and a drink. If only a drink is purchased, it is not part of the program so the student’s PushCoin account will be charged for that item. Only one meal per student qualifies for the program. If a second meal is purchased, then the student’s PushCoin account will be charged. Because Geneva 304 is returning to full, five-day in-person learning, a curbside meal service will no longer be offered.
  • Elementary School Breakfasts: Additional information will be forthcoming regarding the process for providing elementary-level students with free breakfasts. Breakfast is already made available to students at the middle and high school levels. If your child attends elementary school, please stay tuned for further information regarding breakfasts.
Because the Seamless Summer Option is a temporary program, it will end on the last day of the school year. The District will continue to accept applications for free meals and fee waivers. For more information on the application process, please contact the Business Office at 630-463-3030.

Geneva 304 would like to thank all families for their partnership and flexibility as the food service team strives to provide meals to all students.
