Library Names Collaboration Zone in Honor of Longtime Teacher Gigi Kimball
July 15, 2021

Family, friends, & community members gathered together for the Gigi Kimball Memorial Tribute this week, hosted by the Geneva Library Foundation at the Geneva Public Library. The event honored the life and legacy of the longtime Geneva 304 teacher and LMC director who had combined two of her passions — teaching students and bringing people together — and in the process touched countless lives.

The Geneva Library Foundation created the Gigi Kimball Memorial Fund, which raised more than $13,000 for the library in her honor, according to foundation president Mike Longo.

The library’s Collaboration Zone was named after Gigi and will serve as a gathering space for all ages on the second floor of the new library, which this week celebrated its 1-year grand opening.

“I know she would be incredibly humbled by this honor, as I am,” her husband Dave Kimball remarked at the event. “She will always have a presence here because of this honor that she has been bestowed.”
