Who We Are

Harrison Street Elementary School is one of six elementary schools in Geneva, Illinois. We opened our doors on Tuesday, October 22, 1929 with enrollment of ninety-six students and five teachers. The building included six classrooms. After several renovations and many, many years later we now have three sections of each grade level kindergarten through fifth, approximately 400 students, and a staff of seventy five. Situated in the middle of our neighborhood, Harrison prides itself on its community involvement including an amazing PTO, our welcoming family atmosphere, and our drive to continue to push the boundaries and raise the bar as critical, creative, and adaptive thinkers. Together, we teach, learn, lead, and make a difference as students, parents, teachers, and volunteers. We are excited each day to enter a building so grounded in tradition yet led by such an exciting vision for the future.

To that end, we focus on learning 21st century skills including collaboration, critical thinking/problem solving, student-directed learning, and communication. Every day, we live Geneva’s “Tradition of Excellence” through student centered learning activities, differentiated instruction, and the common core standards. We provide intervention support as well as enrichment opportunities, based on student need. Our mascot is the Husky representing our hardworking, energetic, and collaborative nature.
