Communication from GHS Principal Tom Rogers Important Information for Seniors and Parents of Seniors

Dear GHS Senior and Parent/Guardians,
For the next several days we will celebrate the GHS Class of 2021 with a variety of exciting activities, culminating with the Commencement Ceremony on Monday night. Please see the information below for all the details pertaining to each activity. Also, please watch the video included in this message that highlights the key points included below.
The following information is provided in chronological order:
Graduation Packets

  • Seniors received their tickets, along with other things needed for graduation, in a packet on Thursday, June 3rd. If you have not picked up your packet you may do so in the GHS Main Office on Friday, June 4th, from 7:30 until 2:00 p.m. or on Monday, June 7th, from 8:00 until 4:00. Please click HERE for a list of the descriptions of the tassels/ropes included in the envelope.

Baccalaureate Ceremony – Friday, June 4th, 6:30 pm

  • Chapelstreet Church has graciously offered to host an outdoor Baccalaureate Ceremony.  This ceremony is a non-denominational, voluntary religious service for graduating seniors and their families.
  • Baccalaureate will be held outdoors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4th, at the Mill Creek Campus of Chapelstreet Church, 1S455 S. Mill Creek Drive in Geneva. Please note: this is not the church located on the corner of Peck and Keslinger that we have used in the past.
  • All graduates and guests must bring their own lawn chair. Tickets are not required for this event.
  • Graduates participating in the Baccalaureate Ceremony are required to wear their caps, gowns, and medallions and are asked to report to the church by 6:00 p.m.
  • Overflow parking is available at the Marklund Center across the street from the church.
The Graduate Walk The Graduate Walk
The Graduate Walk will once again be part of Geneva High School's graduation celebration!
GHS Seniors, family members, friends, and the community are INVITED to VISIT the Graduate Walk from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 7 along Third Street, Geneva.  (Click HERE to view map)
The 2021 Viking Graduates will be featured on beautiful keepsake signs lining both sides of the street. We encourage GHS Seniors to wear their caps and gowns, connect with fellow graduates, enjoy this wonderful photo opportunity, and prepare to be celebrated by our wonderful community.
Parking is available behind the courthouse and by the train station. Please try to avoid parking on Third street so the signs will be more visible for cars driving by. Graduate Walk Signs will be available for pick up at the Cougars Stadium AFTER the Graduation Ceremony.
We thank our AMAZING Geneva community partners and GENEROUS parents for supporting and funding this special tribute to the 2021 Graduating Class! We want to especially recognize Mayor Burns, Geneva Public Library, Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Designer Terri McCormick, Compass Signs, the downtown Geneva merchants, faith groups and restaurants, GHS PTO, and GHS Post Prom.
We could not have done this project without the community coming together and offering unending support! Thank you!!

* Students who choose not to send in a photo and do not have a Spelman photo on file, will not be featured in the Graduate Walk. Please send any questions to Julie Ford at [email protected].
