Geneva Middle School North hosted a celebration featuring keynote speaker decorated Vietnam veteran Capt. Van C. Stone. Capt. Stone served in the Army from 1968-1971 with assignments in armor and infantry. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 and concluded his service at Fort Polk, La., as Company Commander of E/5/2.

Volunteers Needed in Geneva Classrooms

After taking a pause during the COVID pandemic, Geneva School District 304 is seeking volunteers once again for our Volunteering with PRIDE program. The program, which stands for Proud Retirees (and other) Individuals Dedicated to Education, offers opportunities for approved community members to volunteer to assist in classrooms.

There are many ways a volunteer can help, such as with tutoring, mentoring, guest speaking, reading to students, or assisting teachers with small tasks. Volunteers can apply what they have learned from their careers, hobbies, family life, or other interests. Volunteers may choose a set schedule, or an occasional specific volunteer opportunity.

National School Bus Safety Week, Oct. 17-21

Geneva CUSD 304 is observing National School Bus Safety Week during Oct. 17-21, a public education program designed to promote school bus safety. Nearly 4,000 children ride Geneva 304 buses every day in a typical school year, and the week serves as a reminder for the community to keep school bus safety in the forefront. National School Bus Safety Week helps to bring awareness to daily practices that our community is encouraged to keep in mind year-round, not just during that week. Click "More" below to read important safety tips provided by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) and the American School Bus Council (ASBC).

How to Become a Substitute Teacher

Do you enjoy working with children? Consider becoming a substitute teacher. School districts across the state are facing a shortage of subs, and Geneva District 304 is no exception. Substitute teachers play a vital role in providing our students with the best possible learning experience when their regular teacher is absent. You can help support our students by applying to be a substitute teacher in Geneva District 304.

To help ease the sub shortage, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has lessened the requirements to obtain a substitute teacher’s license.
