From the Sports Desk:

The 8th grade B volleyball team had their last game of the season Tuesday night versus Rotolo and were unable to take down the Bulldogs. Alyssa Flotte had some amazing serves that left the Bulldogs with their tails between their legs. Emmy Kelly had her best game of the season setting up her teammates for some great kills. Everyone should be so proud of how much they've grown over the season. Don't forget our Volleyball End of Season Party will be this Friday after school until 4:30. Make sure to bring your clean jerseys with you!!

Things got spooky yesterday for the Vikings 8A girls volleyball team as they traveled to Rotolo to take on the Wredling RedHawks in the October Monster Madness Conference Tournament. Frankly, the Vikings nearly scared off their competition because the RedHawks didn't even show up until 5 pm! The Vikings won the first point of the game with a monster block from Kate Hupke! Talia Reynolds, Gianna Oxler, Ada Nessling, and Sadie Ludwig had scary-good blocks and tips to make the RedHawks dive for every ball. Myla Giang, Natalie Brown, and Lauren Stachowicz had incredible ups like mummies coming out of the grave that kept the Vikings in control of the court. Sophie Curshellas and Phoebe Law used a little hocus pocus as setters to try to put a spell on the competition. Lettie Klein had spine-chillling moves on the court as libero.

Lyla 'She-Hulk' Folden was back with a vengeance as she went on an 8-point serving streak to give the Vikings a lead in game 2. Ava Connolly used her tricks and, as a treat, sent the game into extra points with a 3-point serving streak. Ultimately, the Vikings fell to the wrath of the RedHawks in two sets. However, there were no shadows left on the court, as the Vikings had their best game of the season. Congrats ladies on a howling great season! See you Friday for the end of season pizza party.

The 7th-grade girls' volleyball closed their season with some hard-fought losses. 7A played North and 7B played Thompson. The girls had a great season full of hard work and fun! We are so proud of all their accomplishments this season! If you see a Viking volleyball player in the hallway, be sure to congratulate her on an amazing season! Don’t forget the end of the year party on Friday until 4:30. See you there!

The Geneva Middle School Football Team ended their regular season with a bang at Sycamore Middle School last Thursday. Luke Ignoffo was lightning in a bottle scoring all four touchdowns, one of which was a halfback pass from Kyler Vanderploeg. Nick Lozano played with poise in the pocket, and Jude Fugman hung on tight to a crisp ball from Lozano in the fourth quarter. On the defensive side of the ball, Graham Burt and Gavin Skinner stood strong against the Spartans attack on the ground and in the air. Burt had a big sack and stopped the Spartans on fourth and inches. Skinner read the Spartan's offense perfectly and came up with an interception to stop a big drive and flipped the field with a 45 yard run back. The final score was 30-12.

Come out and support the Varsity team as they play in the conference championship game at Thompson against Wredling today!
