GHS Student Receives National Award for Writing

Congratulations to GHS student Laura McDonald, who made it to the National Level for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards this March. Her writing piece, “Nature,” won a Silver Medal.
 
Earlier this year, she won a Gold Key for her entire portfolio and an individual piece, "Nature," a Silver Key for an individual piece, "We are the Future," and an honorable mention for an individual piece, "Holistically Speaking."  All works receiving Gold Keys moved on to national judging in New York City, for consideration national honors.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923, and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates.
