From the Sports Desk:

The 7th Grade Girls B team had a difficult match up against Kaneland on Tuesday night and a tough start. By the second half, the team outscored Kaneland, made strong passes, and hit some great shots, but just couldn’t pull out the win. Coach Gates would like to thank the girls for all their effort and development of skills this season and looks forward to seeing them on the court in the future!

After playing tough as nails the whole game, the 7th grade girls A team cut the lead to three in the final seconds last night.  The girls continued to battle and had a couple close looks that just missed tying the game.  Unfortunately, the team came up a couple baskets short in the semi-finals against Thompson.  Despite the loss, it was still a tremendous season as the girls finished with a 6-2 conference record.  Congratulations to Ally Ward, Caroline Madden, Evyn Schokora, Ivy Black, Lexi Meier, Ashlin Webber, Maddie Wrobel, and Hope Ieler on a hard-fought season.

The 8th grade girls’ B team fought hard last night as well but came up just short against North in a 15-14 loss.  Great season, girls.

In the 8th grade A semi-final game, the Geneva Vikings played the Yorkville Foxes.  The Vikings played more like bloodhounds than Vikings and chased the Foxes back home, ending their season.  Geneva came out barking and nipping on defense and Yorkville wasn't ready for it.  Once we picked up that scent of victory, we never let up.  Lauren Slagle and Morgan Curran had more than just a day at the doggie park.  They led the Vikings in points with 12 and 7.  So, it is on to the championship game today against North to see who is The Best in Show.
