Cross Country … It must have been the fresh, cotton shirts, or the pre-game chants, because Geneva South busted out the brooms for a clean sweep against Wredling yesterday.  Riley Dunnet set the tone for the girls with an impressive second place debut.  Mira Meyers hit the cruise control with 100 meters to go and caught 2 Wredling girls for a third place finish.  Griffin Poterek was all guts for the boys and finished with a stellar second place finish with Andrew "Aardvark" Lee following close behind in third.  Way to go South!

Football … The Geneva Middle School Viking varsity football team traveled to Wredling Middle School last night to take on the Redhawks in their first game of the season. The Viking offense came out throwing in the first half and never looked back. Quarterback Ben Peterson connected with wide receiver Bennett Konkey for three first half touchdowns. In the second half, Peterson added another touchdown on the ground, Tate Beran rushed for one of his own, and Nelson Wendell took over at QB and connected with Lincoln Mercado for a sixth score to cap the Viking offense's dominate performance. The defense shut down the Redhawks, allowing just three first downs in the entire game and Frank Wright intercepted a pass to end Wredling's last ditch scoring attempt in the closing minutes. Final score of the game: 44-6. The Vikings are at home next Wednesday against Aurora Washington.
