WHAT ARE THE 5ESSENTIALS AND 5ESSENTIALS SURVEY?

Mill Creek is hoping for 100% participation from parents. Please take a moment right now and complete the survey.

5Essentials is an evidence-based system designed to drive improvement in schools nationwide—it reliably measures changes in a school organization through the 5Essentials Survey and provides individualized, actionable Reports for each school. The 5Essentials system is based on more than 20 years of research by the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research on five components found to be critical for school success:

  • Effective Leaders: The principal works with teachers to implement a clear and strategic vision for school success.
  • Collaborative Teachers: Teachers collaborate to promote professional growth.
  • Involved Families: The entire school staff builds strong relationships with families and communities to support learning.
  • Supportive Environment: The school is safe and orderly. Teachers have high expectations for students and support students to realize their goals. Classmates also support one another.
  • Ambitious Instruction: Classes are academically demanding and engage students by emphasizing the application of knowledge.

The 5Essentials Survey is taken by all prekindergarten through 12th-grade teachers and all fourth- through 12th-grade students. All parents are asked to complete the survey and parents are asked to complete one survey for student in their household.

Please take the 5Essentials Parent Survey by using the link below.

Link to survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

Survey closes March 29, 2024.

Student Council Food Drive

Student Council would like to thank the Mill Creek community for your generous donations of nonperishable food items. We are happy to report that our school collected 249 pounds of food for the Northern Illinois Food Bank!

Student Council also labeled almost 4,000 pounds of green beans cans! The green beans that Student Council packed last night helped to feed 3,180 people right here in Kane County.

District Reunification Plan

General information and a short video is posted on our District website in Safety and Security.

The do's and don'ts of parent Reunification. The attached video is information to parents about the do's and don'ts regarding a reunification event at one of our schools.

What should parents do in an event of an emergency to best assist their student(s)?

While every person’s natural instinct in an emergency is to go the school to safeguard their child, please understand that doing so may significantly impede the school’s ability to respond to the situation. Please trust in the preparedness of the school staff and our community first responders while they respond to the emergency. We kindly ask for your cooperation and assistance and therefore ask you to follow these guidelines:

  • Please do not call or rush to your child’s school because the phone lines and staff are needed for emergency response efforts.
  • Please do not phone your child. Staff and students are discouraged from using cell phone communication for safety reasons.
  • Please wait for official communication from the district via text/email/social media. Which will provide you with information and directions on how to proceed.
