Your GMSS Scholastic Bowl Team faced off against the J-Barbs of Clinton-Rosette Middle School yesterday in a battle of knowledge and wits.
The B Team was relentless. In the first half, Declan Harkins and Alina Nica were quick on the buzzer to answer one toss-up question each. Lucas Osmondson started out hot with 4 toss-ups in the first half while adding one in the second. However, it was Sawyer South who answered SIX toss-up questions in the second half that closed the door on any hopes the J-Barbs had of winning in Viking country. The final score was 245 to 85.
The A-Team battled it out against the J-Barbs in what was truly a whole team effort. Tyler "The Wonder" Wall had two toss-ups and came in the clutch with several bonus questions. Noah McCarthy ran point in the first half and scored two questions in the second while Toby Gibbons ran a tight ship as captain of the second half while answering 3 toss-ups. Dylan Feinburg held off the J-Barbs with a late first-half toss-up, and Nolan Carruth made his A-Team debut with 2 toss-ups. Your Vikings won their last A Match of the season with a score of 210 to 160
From the Sports Desk:
The 8th grade girls Basketball team capped off their regular season with a 2-point win over Thompson last night. Geneva got off to a hot start and was able to hang on during Thompsons' furious comeback. The Vikings finished the regular season with an impressive 9 and 4 record.
It was windy and cloudy outside yesterday, but in the main gym it was raining 3's. Haddie Wilkison, Lyla Clemons, and Ryen Stachowicz all hit shots from behind the arc as the 7th grade A team took down Thompson.
7th grade B team had a nail bitter yesterday as they came up just short to Thompson. Lila Saxton had a great game, and Summer had some amazing steals!
