6th Grade Field Trip to Red Oak Nature Center

We are happy to announce that 6th grade will be taking Geneva Middle School South’s Science Day on the road this year to Red Oak Nature Center. 6Blue will be going on Monday, May 6th and 6White will be going on Thursday, May 9th. We will be participating in hands-on conservation stations at Red Oak.  The total cost of the trip is $8.00.

We will leave GMSS after the morning announcements and be back around 1:00 PM. Students will need to bring a lunch to take with them that day.   We will be eating from 11:00 – 11:30 AM in the picnic pavilion.  It is highly recommended that students bring an extra bottle of water to drink throughout the day.  They can wear a small backpack to keep items in if they wish.  Since we will be outside all day, students should dress for the weather.  Red Oak has stated that no flip-flops, sandals, or fashion boots are allowed.  Students must be in closed-toe shoes.

Please register and pay for your child to on the GMSSWebstore by Wednesday, May 1st.

Please direct any questions or concerns for 6White to Mrs. Brady ([email protected]) and Mrs. Miller ([email protected]) for 6Blue. For specific health concerns, contact the school nurse.   Teachers will carry backpacks with all necessary medications as directed by the nurse.

***The school nurse does not attend the field trip.  If there is an emergency 911 may be called. The GMSS office will also be contacted. If your child has emergency medications in the health office, these medications will be sent with the supervising staff member on the trip. ***

***If your child has a self-carry order for an EpiPen, emergency asthma inhaler, or emergency diabetic medication they should bring this with them on the field trip. ***
