Viking Spotlight: Susan Shrader

Susan Shrader

At the heart of Geneva High School's vibrant educational community is Susan Shrader, the esteemed Dean of Students, whose passion for student success radiates throughout the halls. Since joining the GHS family in August 2007, Ms. Shrader has become a cornerstone of support and guidance, fostering an environment where students can thrive. In fact, Ms. Shrader’s hard work will be recognized this spring as she is a nominee for the Kane County Regional Office of Education’s Educator of the Year award in the category of School Administrator.

Ms. Shrader says the highlight of her year is the graduation ceremony, a momentous occasion that she looks forward to each year as it allows her to witness the culmination of years of hard work as students embark on new adventures. “I love graduation because I get to see the students walk across the stage after successfully completing high school,” she said.

Outside of her work at school, Ms. Shrader finds joy in the simple pleasures of life: immersing herself in the pages of a good book, reveling in the tranquility of nature on her walks, and cherishing precious moments with her loved ones. She is a testament to the dedication that defines Geneva 304, a beacon of commitment, ensuring every student is equipped to sail through the ebbs and flows of their educational journey.

Ms. Shrader has a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and a masters of education degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.
