From the Sports Desk:

Last night, the varsity Viking football team marched into Aurora Washington to battle the Generals in the first game of the 2023 season. Quarterback Nick Lozano led the charge with three touchdown passes to Luke Ignoffo, Gavin Dvorak and a 45-yard bomb late in the game to Lincoln Czupek. Kyler Vanderploeg and Ignoffo both added a score on the ground. Tyler Manning was the star of a flawless special teams' night, recovering an onside kick. The Viking defense was unbreakable. Led on the line by Jaime Menchaca, the Vikings held the Generals scoreless, and Esaiah Torres capped the game, batting down a deep Washington pass to prevent a touchdown. In the end, the Vikings marched home victorious by a score of 38-0.

Next up for Viking football—JV on the road next Tuesday at Rotollo.
