The answer to last week’s Wheel of Fortune puzzle in the library was TWO TURTLE DOVES. Congrats to the correct guessers: Adyn Colon, Taylor Feinberg, Maylie McGinn, Neve McGuire, Betsy Heilman, Mrs. Spring, Mr. Ellibee and Mr. Hirner.

 

Yearbook club will meet today after school until 4:30 in Mr. Sempsrott's room (#113 in the 8W team center). It's never too late to join the yearbook.

 

The Bowling Intramural is coming up on Tuesday, January 30th!  You don’t have to be good at bowling to participate!  So, sign up with some friends from North and South for some fun bowling and snacks. The cost is only $60 for 6 weeks and permission slips are in the main office.

 

Congratulations to the team of Bryson McGinn, Nico Simo and Elijah O'Donnell for winning the fall stock market challenge sponsored by Northern Illinois.  The team won out of 200 competing teams and made a virtual $17,495 in a 3 month time period.

 

Would you like to put your wits and knowledge to the test against students from other schools with a team of GMSS students? If your answer was yes, Scholastic Bowl might be for you! The next info meeting has been scheduled for after school today until 4:20 in Mr. Friend's room 124. See you there!

 

Attention all talented dancers! Tryouts for the Geneva Middle School Dance team will take place on January 8th and 9th in the North fitness room. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Mattson.

 

The next meeting of the Creative Writing Club will be at South tomorrow. Please join us for our poetry contest and winter celebration before school in Ms. Riley's room!

 

Viking Gamer Club is meeting Thursday from 3:30-4:30: come play some great video games with your friend.  Remember, you can sign up for the Practice Super Smash Bros. Tournament by checking your email for the sign-up form.

 

As you decorate for the holidays, please don't throw broken and nonfunctional strands of lights in the garbage.  Instead, bring them to school to be recycled.  There will be drop boxes in each team center until December 20th. 

 

Students & Staff, student council's book & toy drive for the kids at Lutheran General Hospital is ongoing through Friday, December 15th! Won't you join us? Bring a new and unwrapped book or toy to the collection box in your team center and help a child with a serious illness have a wonderful holiday!
