From the Sports Desk:

Yesterday, the 8th grade Vikings girls’ volleyball team traveled to Aurora Jefferson to take on the J-Hawks. The A team won 25-14 and 25-5. Hanna Cosky was strong at the net and Natalija Gaikis played incredible defense. The B team went to three games and came out victorious thanks to an 8-point serving streak by Aly Jones! Mara Ternberg had great passes and led the team cheers. A great start to the season! Go Vikings! The Vikings play at home next week against Aurora Washington.

Yesterday Your JV Geneva Vikings football team traveled to Rotolo Middle School to take on the Red Bulldogs. Cody Brown was a menace on offense with over 80 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns. Cody Rader dissected the defensive with 150 passing yards for three touchdowns one to Michael Lutzow, another to Austen Ganz, and 50 yard toss to Maddox Carson. Jake Fouth added another touchdown on a 10 yard run. On defense, the Vikings were led by strong lineman and linebacker play and two interceptions: one by Kai Costello and another by Scott Byars. Ryan Mamminga dominated on kickoff team with a recovered onside kick. The final score was 46-6.

The cross-country team was well rested after the long weekend and cruised past both Aurora schools last night.  Riley Dunnet, Lyla Clemmons, and Elaina Hamilton led the way for the girls with a dominant 1-3 finish.  The boys continued the momentum with an impressive 2, 3, 4 of Griffin Poterek, Noah Rosser, and Brady Kling.  And a special shout out to Margaret Anthony for a huge PR and 15th place finish!
