From the Sports Desk:

Monday night, the varsity Viking football team traveled to St. Charles to take on the Wredling Redhawks in a rematch of last year's conference championship. The Vikings opened the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown by Luke Ignoffo, but the Redhawks quickly answered with two scores and took a 14-8 lead into half-time. The Vikings came out strong in the second half, led by quarterback Nick Lazano who threw two touchdowns to Gavin Dvorak. Although the Viking defense played well, they couldn't stop the pounding running game of the Redhawks, and after a gutsy last second return attempt failed, the Vikings fell to the Redhawks 26-20 in the program's first loss in two seasons. The varsity team looks to regroup this Thursday on the road at Aurora Jewel.

The Washington Generals were marching 1 by 1 out the door yesterday at the 7th grade girls’ volleyball game. “A” took home the W in 3 matches. Camryn Tardy had a fantastic serving streak that kept us in the game. Charlotte Otto was all over the court playing setter and middle blocker. Her serves were on point and her spikes left the other team speechless!  The B team kept the momentum going and won in 2 matches. Lila Saxton led the way for the Vikings with a killer serve streak that solidified the win for the first match.  Alina Yi was a powerhouse in the back row in both games with several saves and volleys to extend the Vikings lead. 7th grade plays at home on Thursday versus Wredling, be sure to come out and watch!

8th grade volleyball hosted the Washington Generals yesterday. Both teams stayed LOCKED IN to come away with big wins! The A team dominated the floor, winning in two sets: 25-8 and 25-12. Avery Edison, aka Fav Server, had awesome serves and great defense. Sophia Vazquez had great sets to her hitters to help secure the victory. The B team rallied back in the third set, 25-10, for the dub. Bea Millard had an 8-point serving streak in the second game. Marylee Ruiz played incredible defense and had a 13-point serving streak to seal the victory for the Vikings. 8th grade plays next at Wredling on Thursday.
