The first meeting of the Geneva Middle School South yearbook club will take place this Monday, October 22nd in Room 113 in the 8W team center. Students interested art, photography and graphic design are welcome! See Mr. Sempsrott if you have any questions or can't attend the first meeting.

 

Math club, your next meeting will be Monday after school at North in room 122.

 

Social Studies Club will be hosting the North vs. South Civil War Dodgeball battle next Tuesday.  Meet in Mr. Fader’s room in the 8W team center. The battle ends at 4:20. 

And on Saturday, October 27th, Social Studies Club will be taking a field trip to Cantigny, a WWI museum in Wheaton where we’ll climb on tanks and learn about trench warfare. Stop by Mr. Fader’s room for a permission slip. 

 

Don’t forget to come and see the 6th grade play Night at the Wax Museum tonight or tomorrow night at 7:00pm in the cafeteria. Students get in FREE with their student IDs and tickets are only $5 at the door for everyone else! This is a show you DON’T want to miss!!!

 

In honor of Red Ribbon Week next week, Student Council has some great activities planned.

First up is the food drive! Bring non-perishable food to your team center collection boxes all next week. Help stock up the food pantry at Shepherd’s Heart to help those in need feed their families. Keep an eye on the bulletin board in lobby next week to see which team has brought in the most food items! 

Second, is Spirit Week beginning on Monday with PJ Day!  Talk about a comfy way to start the week!

Tuesday will be College Wear Day, Wednesday is Wear Red Day, Thursday is Mix and Match Day and Friday will be our usual Geneva Spirit Day.

And last, don’t forget about the first annual Halloween Movie Night which will take place on Friday, October 26th! Meet in the library right after school.  Concessions will be sold during the movie and all proceeds will support Red Ribbon Week!  Remember, you must have a ride or take the 5:30pm activity bus home afterward.

Also, don’t forget that it’s still SOCK-tober and Student Council still needs your help! If you haven’t already brought in a new pair of socks to donate to the less fortunate in our community, there is still plenty of time.  And don’t forget, when you drop off your donation in the library, be sure to enter the drawing to win a $20 gift card! 

 

Viking Alliance is a newly formed club at Geneva Middle School South that will have its first meeting after school on October 26^th in the Reading Lounge. Viking Alliance is a student-led club for anyone who would like to do fun activities in a supportive, inclusive and nonjudgmental atmosphere. Viking Alliance is about valuing all people no matter their cultural beliefs or their sexual orientation.

If you believe in everyone’s right to be themselves, that differences make a community stronger and if you enjoy lively discussion about diversity and inclusion, then this club is for you.
