This week is
Banned Books Week, which is an annual event celebrating the freedom to
read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 and focuses on efforts
across the country to remove or restrict access to books while drawing national
attention to the harms of censorship. Come to the library this week to
participate in a Banned Book Week challenge for a chance to win a $10
Barnes and Noble gift card.
The next Student
Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd in the 6W team center
after school until 4:25. All are welcome! Please see Miss Mack or
Miss Dagres with any questions.
Snack Attack with
Miss Mack is Back!!! The first session is Thursday, Oct 11th and
permission slips will be due Oct 5th. Space is limited and this one fills up
fast, so pick up a permission slip in the office soon.
Attention all students! Art club has a brand-new session
starting on Monday. Students will design their own Art projects and put on an
Art show. Permission slips are due by this Friday, September 28 and are
available in the Main office or in the Art room.
Are you interested in exploring
robotics, coding, and technology using LEGO Mindstorms, Raspberry Pi, Arduino,
and more? Then the Wired Crew is for you! The first meeting is going to be next
Thursday, Oct 4th. See Mrs. Fedor in the library with any questions.
Hispanic Heritage month continues
through October 15th. Come to the library to see a large display of books as
well as a collection of artifacts from the travels of South's very own Spanish teacher, Senora Lindahl.
