Last night Jewel Middle School came to south to take on the Vikings volleyball team. The 7th grade A game took the first match with an 8-point serving streak from Ava Connolly. The Jaguars was a tough competitor and took the Vikings to 3 sets. Every match was super close, but the Vikings fell to the Jaguars. Sophie Curshellas left it all on the court. She dominated at every position and kept the team in all three sets. The B game overtook the Jewel Jaguars in two sets. Natalie Brown played a strong defense and assisted in several plays. Emery Larsen had a 7-point serving streak that clinched the victory for the Vikings! Great games ladies!

Last night 8th Grade Girls Volleyball pulled off the double-win against Aurora-Jewel. In the "A" game, Keira McCann made her triumphant return to the court with some great passes and hits. Isabella Sida had great net play, Anna Lutzow and Ella Wilkison made some amazing serves, and passing was led by Alexa Cosky, Caitie Potvin, and Megan Maertens. The B game rallied back after losing the first game to defeat Aurora with ease. Hannah Mercado had an impressive serving run, and between Savannah Nicely and Yaslin Lopez, Aurora couldn't find anywhere to put the ball. Layla Plummer helped confirm the victory with strong hits at the net. Great job, girls. Remember, there is no practice tonight.

Last night, the varsity football team squared off against the Thunder of Thompson Middle School. The Vikings struggled early, going into half-time down by two scores to a tough Thunder squad. In the second half, the Vikings battled back. Quarterback Ben Peterson connected with Jacob Ernst to draw within a touchdown. A few plays later, Wyatt Curry stripped the ball from a Thunder runner and recovered the fumble. With two minutes left in the game, the Vikings were knocking on the door, but came up just short in their comeback attempt, dropping to the Thunder by a final score of 16-8. Next up for Viking football-JV versus Jefferson Middle School on Monday.
