Last night, the Geneva Middle School Viking junior varsity football team traveled to St. Charles to take on the Thunder of Thompson Middle School. After a scoreless first half that was dominated by two stubborn defenses, the Vikings finally drew first blood when Finn Caston capped a Viking drive with a 45-yard rushing touchdown. That touchdown, and subsequent two-point conversion were all the offense the Vikings would need. Although the Thunder would score late in the second half, the Viking defense denied the Thunder on their two-point attempt and Geneva won a hard-earned 8-6 victory. Linebacker, Sam Cervenka, and tackle, Nick Torrence, led the Viking defense with key turnovers. Next up for Viking football: Thursday afternoon at home versus Thompson.
