The 7th grade boys’ basketball B team was able to grind out a victory last night against Thompson Middle School, winning by a score of 20-14.  Sam Cervenka, Lucas Burghardt, and Brendan Jones each had 6 points for your Vikings.  Also chipping in with some big buckets were Jack Higgins, Kaleb Smith, Noah Hallahan, and Ryder Krempin.  Defensively, the Vikings were led by Quinn Hood, Ellis Dziadus, Noah Kettlewell, Nick Norkus, and Cooper Black, who all came up with huge steals and rebounds.  Next up for your undefeated Vikings will be the Wredling Redhawks.

The 8th grade boys’ basketball A team battled Thompson last night all game long.  The lead swung back and forth but Thompson came out ahead at the end.

There was a storm brewing last night as the Thompson Thunder came to town, but the South 8th grade boys’ basketball B team was lightning as the boys edged out the thunder for a big W.  Henry “Shaq” Boracca was an absolute beast on the boards and hit two clutch free throws late to take the lead. Logan “and one” Novay hit a huge and one late to help secure the lead and AJ “sharpshooter” Young hit some big buckets.

And in Wrestling, The Vikings squared off against Wredling. It was “Pin City” yesterday as Jay Lechtenberg led things off for the Vikings pancaking his opponent in the second period. After nearly getting the pin in the 1st, Jay reminded his opponent what the ceiling looked like by keeping an authoritative hold of his half-nelson. Joey “Take-Down” Torrence showed all on-lookers yesterday why he has earned his nickname. With yet another awesome double-leg and pin combination, Joey made short work of his opponent in the 1st. Luke Sherry kept the momentum going for the Vikings, as he re-established his dominance of the 96-pound weight class. With an impressive balance of offense and defense, Luke was a stalwart eventually pinning his opponent in the 3rd. At the varsity level, Matthew “The Hit Man” Hart was impressive as he secured his pin combination with great balance, sound technique and…his chin. Showing his resourcefulness, Matthew pulled off a very tricky back-side chin lock to get the pin in the 1st. Looks like Matthew was “in it to chin it.” Nathan Leak continued his utter dominance by showcasing his speed, strength, and agility. With perfect defense and eye-popping maneuverability, Nathan performed a nearly flawless sequence to pin his opponent in the 2nd. Keep up the streak Mr. Leak! Last but certainly not least, Quinn Hogan came out in “Beast Mode” yesterday as he looked like a middle-schooler possessed. Early in the 2nd period, Quinn folded his opponent quicker than an over caffeinated origami artist. Great win Quinn!

Just a reminder to our music students, today is band/orchestra day!
