The 7th grade boys’ basketball A team hosted Jewel for their 2nd home game of the year.  The Vikings got out to a quick lead with 23 first quarter points.  Strong point guard play by Caleb Mittman and 5 players, led by Jackson Snider’s 12 points, scored 8 or more points as the Vikings never trailed in the game.  The Vikings travel to Thompson for their game on Thursday.

The 7th Grade boys’ basketball B team continued their winning ways last night with a 31-19 win over the Jewel Jaguars.  Brendan Jones led the Vikings in scoring with 6 points, while Sam Cervenka and Jack Higgins each chipped in with 5 points.  Ellis Dziadus led the Vikings with 5 personal fouls, making him the first player to foul out this season.  The Vikings will look to remain undefeated when they take on the Thompson Thunder on Thursday.  Let's go Vikings!

The 8th grade boys’ basketball A team went to Jewel last night.  Clean up on aisle 9.  No, not the Jewel grocery store, the school.   The Vikings got off to a slow start being down 10 at half.  Some tough defense and outside shooting got them back within 3 but they couldn’t find the bucket at the end of the game to send it to OT.

Everyone was taking a number at the deli line last night as the South boys’ basketball B squad took down Jewel. Nick Easter and Zach Teusink were working the aisles and creating some dishes for his teammates while Nolan Shockey and Henry Boraca were ready to roll at the checkout line with some big finishes.

In wrestling, The Vikings had their first meet yesterday against a very experienced and formidable opponent in Rotolo. Makayla Copstead led the way as she won in a 7 to 4 decision in the first official match of the season! With incredible technique and fierce determination, Makayla set the pace for the rest of the Vikings. Joey Torrence displayed guile and moxy in his very first match as a wrestler, winning in a 3 to 1 decision. Luke Sherry also had a nice match, putting on an exhibition of take-down mechanics and was relentless keeping his opponent constantly at a disadvantage, finishing 8 to 3 with a win. The momentum continued at the varsity level as Nate Garlock, in his first match as a wrestler, won by pinning his opponent in the 2nd period. Nate was impressive and executed a textbook half-nelson to seal the deal, providing the Vikings with a win by pinfall. Finally, Nathan Leak had a match for the ages as he went up against a very battle-hardened opponent in the 118-pound class. The match kept all spectators on the edge of their seats, as even 3 periods wasn’t enough time to decide a victor. By staying a constant threat as an exceptional take-down artist, Nathan edged his opponent in overtime in a 6 to 4 decision.
