7th grade volleyball had their first games of the season last night. The A team came out fighting. Even though they lost to Aurora Herget, Sadie Ludwig had two great serving streaks and Talia Reynolds wowed the crowd with some amazing saves! The B team won in two matches, and the team was led by Charlotte Seykora and Myla Giang’s strong serves! Great job girls!

8th Grade Volleyball pulled off a double-win last night, with both “A” and “B” beating Herget in two games. “A” was led with outstanding serving from Ella Wilkison from Caitie Potvin, and superb setting from Finley Miller. On “B,” Layla Plummer had a magnificent serving run, Fynnley Huffman made some amazing passes, and Hannah Mercado hustled all over the court and had excellent sets. Come support your 8th grade girls volleyball team on Monday as they take on GMS North at the high school.

It's time to level up your gameplay with the return of Viking Gamer Club.  Viking Gamer Club is back with the plan to meet on Fridays after school.  With a new space to hangout and new games, this is something no gamer wants to miss!  You can pick up a club sign-up form from the main office or from Mr. Rhea in Room 140.  All sign-up forms must be completed and returned to the office by Friday, September 10th.

Last night, the Geneva Middle School Viking varsity football team opened its 2021 season, hosting the Redhawks of Wredling Middle School on the turf at Geneva High School. The Vikings came out strong from the start as Ben Peterson threw two touchdowns to Nelson Wendell and Harrison Tincher added a third. This is all Geneva would need. The Viking defense held the Redhawks to just two first downs and zero points, led by strong performances by Cameron Ziegler, Wyatt Curry, Jack Price and Aidan Bryant as Geneva locked down its first conference victory. Next up for Viking football: the junior varsity team squares off against Aurora Washington at home on Monday.

Despite the grueling conditions and the heat index being a shade under a 100 burger, the Geneva Cross-Country Team lit the course on fire for their first meet yesterday.  Mira Meyers led the way for the girls with an impressive fourth place finish with Elena Maminga and Gretchen Drexler close behind.  Alexis Guess was the top 6th grade runner and 4th runner for the Vikings.  On the boys side, Griffin Poterek ran a gutsy race for the boys with a 4th place finish of his own.  Andrew Lee and Ben Barton were right behind, both running stellar races.

A reminder to our music students: today is a band/orchestra day!
