Okay, GMSS – your help is needed!  You have all heard the news stories of the devastating bush fires in Australia and you may have seen the tragic pictures of all the koalas, kangaroos and other animals that have been hurt and left homeless by those fires.  Well, here is an easy way to help and show your support (and look koala-fied too).  Purchase one of the t-shirts you’ve all seen on the flyers and posters around school and the proceeds will go towards helping all those animals! They’re only $15 so pick up an order form in the office soon!

From the Sports Desk

The crowd was bumping, Aurora tried a misdirection trick play to start the game, and there were celebrity appearances from Mr. Foulkes, Mr. Barabasz, and Ms. Krahulec as the 7th grade A team took on Aurora.  After a back and forth first half, the 7th grade girls’ A basketball team put the pedal to the medal in the second half and defeated Aurora 34-24.  Ellie Larson knocked down a three burger, and Kaitlyn Sprague dropped a buzzer beater 3 to end the first quarter, while leading all scorers with 13 points.  Nice team W!

The 7th grade girls’ B basketball team showed off their depth of knowledge last night against Aurora Washington. Chloe Judd and Emilie Beaupre owned the screen and roll. Molly Brown got some huge stops on D in the paint, while Rachel Rudiger played excellent help defense. Lizzy Shackelford and Lilly McConnell were up and down both ends of the court making great passes for some good looks at the hoop. The Vikings fell short with the points but are ready to take on North at home tonight!

The 8th grade girls’ basketball team marched over to play the Aurora Washington Generals last night.  There was no glitz or glamour in the game, but the Vikings ended up on top.  Caroline Madden and Lucy Buchanan helped conquer the Generals with solid defense and rebounding.  The Vikings head North tonight to try and defeat their campus neighbors.
