Did you know that an estimated 14 billion lbs. of trash – mostly plastic – is dumped into the world’s oceans every year.  To help reduce this shocking number, the GMSS green team has set up boxes in the cafeteria next to the trash cans to put empty chip bags; that’s right – empty chip bags! Also, don’t forget to put your dried-out markers in the baskets in your team centers – any type or brand of marker! With a little help from every kid in this school we can help save the planet step by step.

From the Sports Desk

Congrats to the 8th grade A and B teams for a big win at our first game against Aurora Herget!

Special shout out to Allie Ward for an amazing 16 point serving run and our two setters, Kayla Shultz and Jacquelyn Caballero for running a strong offense!

Both of the 7th grade A and B teams started off their seasons strong with competitive three game matches. Ellie Grantcharov led the A team in passing and gave Aurora Herget some big competition.  They forced the final game into extra points, but sadly lost their third game in a close one – 19-17.

The B team started out with a strong serving run from Bridget Hecker. Coming back from a tough loss in their second game, they managed to control the third game with accurate passes and a whole-team effort

which led them to a big win in their match.
