Claude Debussy was a French composer in the 20th century who created an original system of harmony and musical structure.  This morning as you were coming in you heard one of his major and most beautiful works, Clair de lune.

The Variety Show audutions begin next week and are open to all grade levels.  Sign up in the Main Office for an audition time. See Mr. Japlon in 7W with any questions.

There is a community food pantry here in Geneva that is open to anyone who needs a little help. This pantry supplies food for over 1000 people every month. The pantry only has food to give because people like you.  Help us feed the hungry by making a donation. Why donate? Some families have a hard time making ends meet.  Others do not have enough money to feed their family.

Students and staff are encouraged to donate food for our annual Food drive during Red Ribbon Week, October 21-25.  Food items should be dropped off in your team center.   The grade level with the most items will earn music during their lunch. The collection begins on Monday, so offer to help with the grocery shopping this weekend and pick up some items for those in need.

Basketball and cheerleading tryouts and wrestling practice all start on Monday, so be sure you are registered on 8to 18 and have a current physical on file. Better safe than sorry, so if you’re not sure, come to the office and we can check.

All 7th grade boys who are interested in playing basketball, there is going to be an open gym today after school until 4:20.

The first yearbook meeting of the year will be Monday, October 21st immediately after school in Room 113 (Mr. Sempsrott's room in the 8White team center). We will be meeting with a representative of the yearbook publisher to choose our cover. The meeting will end at 4:20. See Mr. Sempsrott with any questions.

Have you seen the chip bag recycling boxes in the cafeteria and the pen, pencil and marker recycling boxes in your team center?  Wondering how those got there?  Join the Green Team to learn more about ways we can help the Earth here at school.  Our next meeting is after school on Wednesday, October 23rd until 4:30 in Mrs. Brady's room in the 6W team center.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week and to help celebrate, we’re going to have a spirit wear theme each day.  First up on Monday will be Pajama Day! Check out the posters around school for the rest of the week’s themes.

Friday, October 25th is Picture Retake Day!  If you were absent for picture day, here’s your chance to get your picture taken.  If you don’t like the first picture and you ordered a packet, just bring that packet to school on Friday, turn it in and get a new picture taken!

Music students, today is a Band and Orchestra day.
