George Gershwin was a Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer born in 1898. Gershwin composed music for Hollywood films and sometimes collaborated with his brother Ira. George combined traditional musical with jazz and folksy themes and rhythms, like in the piece from this morning... Rhapsody in Blue.

Variety Show auditions will be held next Monday and Tuesday after school in the cafeteria.  You can either sign up for an audition time in the cafeteria or just show up.  See Mr. Japlon in 7 White if you have any questions. The Variety Show is open to all grade levels.

 

There’s a groovy new intramural coming up in November.  It’s only one day and it’s only $10.  What is it? It’s Tie Dye!  You will create a one-of-a-kind tee shirt and the $10 fee includes the tee shirt and all the materials you’ll need to dye your shirt!  Permission slips are available in the office and will be due November 6th!

 

Just a reminder that today is Picture Retake Day during all the lunch periods!

 

Today is the GMSS annual Halloween movie night!  Head to the library right after school to watch Maleficent!  Plan to get a ride or take the 5:30 activity bus home.

 

Social Studies Club will be fighting the Civil War, but instead of cannons, we'll be firing dodgeballs at the northern army.  Meet in Mr. Fader's room in the 8 White team center after school on Tuesday.  We'll be traveling to the North building together to play Civil War dodgeball, which will end at 4:25.  Remember, Tuesday, the battle begins.

Thursday: FCA before school at North

Friday: Alliance Club after school
