From the Sports Desk

Last night, in the 8th grade B basketball game, the Batavia Bulldogs showed up and the Vikings served them a 50 burger for the main course. Ryan Meszaros treated the bulldogs to a side of 3 pointers and Josh Fuecht ordered up an AND ONE for dessert. The Vikings cruised to a victory faster than you can go through a drive-thru.

It was an instant "ESPN" classic last night as the 8th grade A team lost by one point to Batavia.  Patrick "Not Mahomes" Turner had a huge game knocking down three 3-burgers while Benny "The Jet" Ribordy was all over the floor on defense and played one of his best games of the year.  It was a gritty game the entire way, but ultimately the team lost by one point as their half court attempt came up short.

The 7th grade A team traveled to Rotolo to face off against the Bulldogs. The Vikings were able to control the game from start to finish winning by 11.  Brady McMillen and Mac Moore played with great poise as Bulldogs attempted to pressure the Vikings.  Ethan Gronberg led all scorers with 10 points, followed by Jayden Hodgdon and Finn Weppner’s 7 points.  The Vikings play a tough Yorkville team at home on Tuesday.

The 7th Grade B team’s defense dominated the Bulldogs holding them to 1 point through 3 ½ quarters and allowing a grand total of 3 points.  Great rebounding by Robby Younquist and Brody Pyfer, smart decision making by Christian Novay, and Ryan Hutko’s ability to get to the hoop proved too much for the Bulldogs.   Daniel Davis led all scorers with 8 points followed by Bryce Adams 5 points.   The Vikings take on Yorkville on Tuesday.  Come out and support the boys!

Congratulations to the wrestling team in last night’s match against Kaneland.
