Prerequisite: Prior experience in band. Membership in this ensemble may be granted to novice instrumentalists with director's permission.

Course Description:
This course is geared toward the abilities and development of the less experienced instrumentalist. Course material will build upon basic instrumental skills and musical concepts and establish goals for advancement to the next level of musical proficiency. Experienced students who wish to take up a secondary instrument would be encouraged to enroll in this course. Units for this ensemble include pep band and concert band. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in jazz band, “pit” orchestra/band, chamber ensembles, and various music festivals and events. Students in Concert Band will not participate in Marching Band. Enrollment in this course is available to all interested students with prior experience in band. All incoming freshman with prior experience in band will automatically be given membership in Concert Band, unless they choose to audition for Symphonic Band or Wind Symphony during their eighth grade year.
